Publishers Hustle to Make E-Books More Immersive | Underwire | Wired.com
An interesting article about the Future of Publishing and how “booksellers must adapt, and so must authors of all stripes.”
However, I’m not quite sure that audio and video are things publishers “must” add to their books but I do think both are something they must consider: What reader, for example, has thought about buying A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin as an eBook and then changed their mind because there’s no embedded author interviews?
I’m not sure the comparison to the music industry is the correct one to make. Multimedia features in eBooks strike me as being more like special features on DVDs: extra content is a bonus that adds value for some buyers but I think - and perhaps I’m wrong - that most are buying for the main feature.
